Art Show Opening & Reception
Join us at Art Show Opening & Reception – VIEW from the Inside. Barb English (VIEW FROM THE INSIDE Program Manager) and Wendy Passmore-Godfrey (Artistic and Executive Director, WP Puppet Theatre) host a special opening reception where we will share
- the development of the award winning VIEW FROM THE INSIDE program,
- the findings of a research study conducted by Sheridan Centre for Elder Research,
- launch a self-directed VIEW Facilitator Training Course for helping professionals.
Alumni from the program will share their experiences and Dr Kate Dupius (Sheridan College) will speak (via video) about the research.
Celebrate the beauty and impact of this collection of self-portrait masks – on display in the main floor gallery of the Calgary Central Public Library for the month of December.
VIEW FROM THE INSIDE was formally recognized for its impact and excellence by the ATB Healing Through the Arts Award. Participants make a self-portrait-based puppet made from a mask-form which becomes a nuanced artifact with legacy themes.
The outside of the puppet represents the ‘public face’, the inside the ‘private’ face, attachments connect to the world and memories; culminates in celebratory ‘performative-reflections’. Through the creation, exhibition, and performance participants develop community, foster resiliency, and gain a voice for their stories.

Light refreshments will be served.
