Puppet Pop Up – Dragons!

WP Puppet Theatre is proud to present: Puppet Pop Up – Dragons! – a family friendly puppet-making workshop at the Chinese Cultural Centre.

Inspired by the Chinese astrological calendar and the upcoming Chinese New Year, we will be making the most powerful creature of the Zodiac signs: Dragons! Our rod puppets are made from card stock paper and wood. Learn how to create magnificent dragons, animate them flying through the air, twisting and twirling, to music. Let’s see what each dragon, a symbol of strength, success, and good fortune can do!

Materials and step by step instructions are provided. Suitable for ages 5+.

Wendy Passmore- Godfrey, BFA, is Artistic & Founding Director of WP Puppet Theatre, established in Calgary, Mohkinstsis in 1991 as a Charitable NFP. She has designed, built and performed over 20 different productions and toured both locally and internationally. She has facilitated or overseen development of the Society’s learning programs for children and adults, notably “VIEW from the Inside” and curates the International Puppet Power Arts Series. Wendy believes that puppets have a special power to help diverse groups of people to better understand each other, promote equity, tolerance and provide a creative platform to express controversial and significant social issues.

Puppet Pop Up is a puppet making and performing workshop series taking place at different locations in Calgary. We actively promote all family members, youngsters and elders, in creating art and drama together and accommodate all skills and ages, with a different theme with each pop up.
