The Gift of Creativity and Mental Wellness
Mask -Body Puppet maker – workshop course

VIEW for the Holidays is an online Mask-Body Puppet maker-workshop course. Attending this program will not only be fun, but will also allow participants to see themselves from a different perspective.

Engaging in art and exercising creative muscles have been proven to assist individuals in managing their mental wellbeing. Therefore, when we are creative, our minds tend to go into a state of flow, similar to meditation.

VIEW for the Holidays is based on WP Puppet Theatre’s award-winning puppet infused program, VIEW from the Inside.  VIEW brings together community and family to (self) reflect, tell stories and create, exhibit and perform beautiful art.

The VIEW project has four unique and innovative components to puppet making:

  • “Public Me” – participants create the outside of the mask; they explore trust, team building, how they present themselves, and perceive how others see them.
  • “Private Me” – represents participants’ inner selves; they collect images and other objects to fill the inside of the mask.
  • “Connected to Me” – represents the participants relationships with their community and personal history. Objects are attached to the mask to symbolize the outside connections.
  • “Presenting Me” – focuses on mask-puppet manipulation, and the sharing of stories or artistic statements.
