Our annual Family Puppet Festival Day is back! Join us for a wonderful opportunity where families come together and enjoy a day filled with interactive activities, puppet creation stations, and performances, while celebrating the art of puppetry.

Event Highlights:

Live Performance: Get ready for an unforgettable adventure with Kiki the Eco Elf! Through wildly imaginative storytelling, mesmerizing multi-instrumental music, and high-energy interactive games, Kiki brings the stage to life with a powerful, earth-conscious message. Her dynamic performances blend music education, environmental awareness, and healthy living into an explosion of creativity, laughter, and thought-provoking fun!

With an ecological twist, Kiki ignites the imaginations of audiences young and old, inspiring them to take action while embracing their inner child. Step inside the belly of a giant inflatable salmon* and embark on a thrilling journey through the salmon’s life cycle. Dive into multicultural tales, sing along with ocean songs, and discover essential lessons on water conservation and protecting our planet.

* The salmon cannot be inflated in inclement weather.

Live Music with Robin Layne: Over the past decade and a half, Juno nominated percussionist Robin Layne has steeped himself in rhythmic traditions around the world. His search for rhythm and folkloric traditions has led him to Cuba, Guinea, Mali, Mexico, and beyond. He brings these influences to bear in his compositions that are inspired by his travels. Robin believes music has the power to connect and bring people together and has devoted his life to that, both through his performing work and also his educational work with young people.

Hamlet the Clown: Perfect for all ages, Hamlet brings infectious energy and whimsy to any festival or fair! This charming walk-about character is a hit at trade shows, conventions, and outdoor events—especially where long line-ups need a dash of entertainment. Hamlet delights crowds with juggling, hat tricks, penny whistle tunes, playful dance moves, and spontaneous crowd interactions. But his true specialty? Hilarious mimicry that keeps everyone laughing.

Puppetry Work Station: Following the live show with Kiki, participants of all ages can learn the basics of puppetry, including how to create their own puppet and bring it to life!

Community Guests: Take time to interact with the community vendors located outdoors, including the Flight Hangar Museum, the Calgary Library Book Truck, henna artist, sports activities, local artists and more!
